Yashna is a screenwriter and graduate of the UCLA School of Theater Film and Television, where she earned her MFA in Screenwriting. Her writing has been recognized by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, Film Independent and the Museum of the Moving Image, among others. 

Yashna writes character-driven stories, both series and features, with the goal of telling authentic South Asian stories for a global audience.

She also enjoys playing with the elements of time, memory and perception. Her work thrives at the intersection of emotion and imagination, inviting audiences into worlds that feel both intimate and cinematic.

Yashna also holds an MSc in Integrated Marketing Communications from Northwestern University in Chicago. Prior to pursuing screenwriting, she worked in advertising in Mumbai, Chicago and New York, where she helped inject a sense of storytelling/brand personification to well-known international and local brands.   

Yashna currently has projects in different stages of development for theatrical release and global streaming platforms. She has worked on feature and series projects for Invention Studios, Creative Nation Media, Fast Forward International, Jaya Entertainment, Ellipsis Entertainment, Tiger Baby, Excel Entertainment and Applause Entertainment among others.

Produced work includes "Designed By Preeti" (feature, 2025) and "Gandhi" (series, 2025) which was the first ever Indian series to have its world premiere at TIFF.
